The amount of time it takes the sun (and our solar system) to revolve around the center of the Milky Way. The time is approximately 250 million years. This means that exactly one cosmic year ago during the beginning of the Mesozoic era, the earth was relatively in the same place as it is now in the universe with small dinosaurs as the dominant animal species.
