Originally produced in 1917 as a basketball
shoe. Today it has become something of a status symbol
for people of the "punk
" and "emo
" subcultures, although I don't understand why. Arguably one of the most popular sneakers
ever produced in America, nicknamed "chucks", after
basketball hall-of-famer Charles H. Taylor
. If you look at the Star
logo on the sneaker you can still see his name engraved into them today.
Still one of my favorite pairs of sneakers
. I guess that means I was punk when I was in kindergarten
. Who would have thought ?
Available in high top
or low cut
