If you're from the United States and in high school, you'll someday go to a town that's home to a large university and you'll be blown away by all the cool people and places: little sidewalk cafes, people with blue hair, record stores with music you actually listen to, conversations in Cantonese or Bengali...it's great.

Then someday you'll go to a more distant town that is home to a different large university and you'll see some oddly familiar people and places: little sidewalk cafes, people with blue hair, record stores with music you actually listen to, conversations in Cantonese or Bengali...

Over time, you will notice that there are chains of restaurants and retail stores that exist solely in college towns, and that even the local establishments in these towns are oddly similar.

Many of these towns have other features besides their universities, but they are nonetheless part of a linked network--Collegetown, USA.
