The original title of Heartbreak House by George Bernard Shaw. Released shortly after World War I, it is thought that GB Shaw titled his play as a clever method of getting back at those who had been over-critical of him for his Anti-war stance. It worked, theatre attendence for the show was the lowest of any of Shaws plays, until the Savoy Theatre, believing that the title splashed across the marquee was deterring audiences, redubed the show "Heatbreak House".
