There is a fine line between childlike and infantile. One who is childlike generally has a youthful, inquisitive nature about them. They have a thirst for knowledge and usually an incredible naivete. Far too many people, however, are infantile, and are obsessed with themselves and might as well just suck their thumbs. We need more people who have the wonder of a child instead.

Child"like (?), a.

Resembling a child, or that which belongs to children; becoming a child; meek; submissive; dutiful.

"Childlike obedience."

Hooker.

Childlike, as applied to persons grown up, is commonly in a good sense; as, childlike grace or simplicity; childlike modesty.
