A high-profile group of defendants, 1969-70; the "Chicago 8", but Bobby Seale (of The Black Panthers) got his own trial. Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Lee Weiner, John Froines, Tom Hayden, Rennie Davis. They were accused of starting the riots surrounding the 1968 Democratic Convention, though, arguably, Mayor Daley was the real culprit. Their foe was The Man incarnate, Judge Julius Hoffman. Five were convicted; the verdicts were overturned in 1972.
