One of the cooler things in nature - As water, or any other cohesive liquid with a hydrogen bond is given a small opening, it will spread onto the walls while remaining cohesive. This causes the liquid to spread upwards due to its molecular mechanics. Examples of this are trees (water rises from the trunks to the leaves) and pipettes which take a drop of blood from ones finger.
