A song by poet/songwriter M. Doughty (you may remember him from the band Soul Coughing). Busting Up a Starbux (sic) has yet to appear on any album of Doughty's, although he does perform it live.

Despite the name of the tune, Doughty claims that he is actually a big fan of the omnipresent coffeehouse franchise, Starbucks. Doughty has said that he is almost afraid to publish the song, since, if it somehow became popular, he'd suddenly feel uncomfortable getting his iced grande latte.

In any case, my interpretation of the song is that it is about that teen-angst-cum-anti-coporate feeling that has become increasingly common in recent years. Of course, as with almost any M. Doughty song, many of the words are only likely to be there because they happen to sound nice in context.

the lyrics:

It will always be
The end of time
The end of law
The end of life
The dogs will howl
And yank the leash
From tree to tree
From each to each

Does the man who makes the shoes own you, clown? You can’t
Even pry the name plate off, now can you? Fix it
With your tiny fist there--James
Van Der Beek and them sisters from Sister, Sister
The only one that’s ever felt this is you
The force that’s forcing you
To feel like
Busting up a starbux
Busting up a starbux

This bitter drink
Has made you drunk
The thoughts you think
Become unthunk
The sky’s ablaze
The sea is too
The water’s red
The flames are blue

Does the man who makes the shoes own you, clown? You can’t
Even pry the name plate off, now can you? Fix it
With your tiny fist there--James
Van Der Beek and them sisters from Sister, Sister
The only one that’s ever felt this is you
The force that’s forcing you
To feel like
Busting up a starbux
Busting up a starbux
