Lyrics brought to you by Segnbora-t

French or Provencal Christmas carol; English words by Edward S. Breck. I don't know why the French version has four verses but I can't find anyplace with more than two in English. The English is not an exact translation, but is closest to French verses 1 and 4.

French words:
Un flambeau, Jeanette Isabelle,
Un Flambeau, courons au berceau.
C'est Jésus, bonnes gens du hameau,
Le Christ est né, Marie appelle:
Ah! Ah! Ah! Que la mère est belle,
Ah! Ah! Ah!

Do! Do! Do! que l'Enfant repose!
Do! Do! Do! qu'il rit en dormant!

English words:
Bring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella
Bring a torch, come swiftly and run.
Christ is born, tell the folk of the village,
Jesus is sleeping in His cradle,
Ah, ah, beautiful is the Mother,
Ah, ah, beautiful is her Son.

Hasten now, good folk of the village,
Hasten now, the Christ Child to see.
You will find Him asleep in a manger,
Quietly come and whisper softly,
Hush, hush, peacefully now He slumbers,
Hush, hush, peacefully now He sleeps.
