The Braford was developed in the 1950's to address the problems that Hereford cattle experienced in the temperate climate of southern Florida.

A cross-breed of, as the name might suggest, Brahman (3/8) and Hereford (5/8), the Braford enjoys the Brahman's resistance to heat and insects while producing Hereford-quality beef.
