Borborygmy is an Onomatopoeic term from Greek. It is a medical term for the growling and rumbling sound your digestive system makes (but it's actually your intestines). It's pronounced Bore-bore-Rig-mee. I guess that's how Greeks thought it sounded. Few non-medical people know it, tempting me to call in sick with it; "Sorry boss, I can't come into work today, I've got a terrible case of borborygmy, I can't function today."
