The Gaelic spelling of Vancouver.

The city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada has a society by the name of the Comunn Gaidhlig Bhancoubhair, the Vancouver Gaelic Society, with the goals of preserving Scottish hertiage and the Gaelic language and culture intact. There is also a choir called the Còisir Ghàidhlig Bhancoubhair is An Sgìre, which translates, rather banally, to the Vancouver and District Gaelic Choir.

When I was in a Scottish dance group, we were often given newsletters where the headlines were written in Gaelic, or more often with English puns on Gaelic spelling. However, at the time, I found the spelling Bhancoubhair actually quite enchanting.
