Stout - similar to much-better-known Guinness or Murphy's, but smoother, with less bitterness left on the palate. Introduced to me in West Cork, apparently fairly localized in its Irish consumption (similar to, but not quite the same as the way Shiner Bock or Weinhard's are still semi-regionalized in the US). Also apparently an old man's drink, though I am not sure why. Still my favorite stout though.

adjective; To be smiling with happiness or optimism. (i.e. beaming a smile). For example:

"But oh, beamish nephew, beware of the day,
If your Snark be a Boojum! For then
You will softly and suddenly vanish away,
And never be met with again!"
The Baker quoting his uncle in Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark.
