Tagalog for homecoming from the words balik (go back to) and bayan (country/nation/community). It also refers to the person going home.

A common term in the Philippines, where more than 1 million of its citizens work overseas. Many work as maids and construction site workers. However, a growing number of professionals such as nurses, programmers, and engineers are also now working overseas. In 1999, these workers sent an estimated 8 billion US dollars home. This makes the export of human workers the Philippines' biggest source of dollars.
