Though it sounds like self-evolution, the definition for this term is instead
evolution directed by
intelligent beings instead of by
natural selection.
Where the tricky bit is is I suppose in the assertion that the intelligent beings need not necessarily be of the human race - extra-terrestrials, dolphins and AIs all seem potentially valid directors.
