Αστερια

  1. The daughter of the Titan Coeus and Phoebe, the sister of Leto and grand-daughter of Uranus (the Sky) and Gaia (the Earth). Zeus loved her but she changed herself into a quail to escape his pursuit of her, and threw herself into the sea, where she became an island called Ortygia (Quail Island) which was subsequently called Delos after Leto had given birth to her two children there. This Asteria was the mother of Hecate by Perses (Table 32).

  2. Another Asteria (or Asteropia), the daughter of Deion and Diomedes, married Phocus, the son of Aeacus. She was the mother of Panopeus and Crisus (Table 20 and Table 30).
