November 14-24, 1969
crew: Conrad, Richard F. Gordon Jr., Alan L. Bean

One of NASA's Apollo missions. Though twice struck by lightning before leaving the Earth's atmosphere, it landed safely on the moon near the Surveyor 3 probe, which had arrived a couple years earlier. Astonishingly, it was later discovered that bacteria from Earth was still surviving on the probe, despite the harsh lunar conditions! Conrad and Bean walked on the moon and collected samples.
