Called 'Anguiras' in Japan, Angilas is one of the big four Toho Studios kaiju. The several-hundred foot long giant monster resembles an ankylosaurus and is one of the few kaiju who can neither fly nor project some sort of energy weapon, yet he shows a tenacity and aggressiveness which has made him a fan favorite. Sometimes, he throws himself backwards into an enemy to impale it on his back spikes. Angilas has often teamed up with Godzilla, King of the Monsters, usually as ground support.
