See Rhind Papyrus, a papyrus which gives us the best possible look at ancient Egyptian mathematics. Alexander Henry Rhind is the Scottish Egyptologist who purchased the papyrus in 1858 at Luxor, and thus it was originally named for him. Ahmes was the scribe who wrote the papyrus.
