Adam Arkin, son of
Alan Arkin (

brother to Matthew and Anthony, Adam Arkin has always brought a strong, but sensitive face to both the tv screen and the movie screen. To most people, he's best known as "Dr. Aaron Shutt" (Chicago Hope), but to me, he's best known as simply "Adam",
that guy who was great as the twitchy chef on Northern Exposure. As I never watched Chicago Hope, I can only speak to his acting on Noex, and the few movies I've seen him in.
In Northern Exposure, he played a chef who was always simply known as "Adam". He always claimed to be a world reknowned gourmet chef, and his cooking always seemed to back it up. He was a
gruff,
anti-social,
bitter man, an
interesting contrast to the open, expressive members of the Alaskan township. His
grandiose claims were always left up to the viewer so that they themselves could decide whether he was, in fact, a
pathalogical liar, or was all the things he claimed to be.
The few movies he's been in that I have seen were fairly sub par. I didn't enjoy "Hanging Up" very much, and frankly, I hated Holloween Water.
