Not to be confused with College Bowl and other quiz bowl organizations, this is an annual football game which brings to a hilt one of the University Athletic Association (NCAA Division III)'s most heated rivalries. I am, of course, speaking of the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans and the Case Western Reserve University Spartans.

This game is easily the third-most-highly-anticipated game in Carnegie Mellon football's illustrious season, behind Opening Night and Homecoming. Attendance at Carnegie Mellon's Gesling Stadium (capacity 3,900) easily tops 50 people on the Saturday afternoon on which it is held, especially considering that the Spartans regularly send a handful of supporters from Cleveland to Pittsburgh.

The Tartans have not had a losing season since 1974, although they are in a fairly non-competitive conference. (One of the other UAA schools, New York University, doesn't even have a football team to begin with.) In the 2001 Academic Bowl, Carnegie Mellon stomped CWRU by a final score of 42-14.
