A monophonic modular analog synthesizer. Designed by ARP Instruments as a cheap version of the ARP 2600, to be used as an educational tool. Manufactured between 1975 and 1977.

The MSL consists of individual battery powered modules:

   1501 ADSR envelope generator
   1503 noise generator
   1504 VCO
   1506 VCF
   1507 Sample/Hold
   1509 VCA
   1510 multiple box
      ? ring modulator
      ? mixer/attenuator
      ? amp/speaker
A basic setup contained the 1501, 1504, 1506, 1509 and amp/speaker modules, along with a keyboard. The modules are connected with grey/yellow/red cables, and each of them came with a comprehensive teacher's manual.

When ARP was going under in 1980, the MSL was sold to Electronic Music Products and Services, who designed a new 3-octave keyboard and a case storing the modules vertically.
