AMEX

AMEX is the American Stock Exchange. This stock exchange is based in New York. It has merged with the NASDAQ. It is often confused with American Express. It is unfortunate that two financial entities would have such similiar names.

The American Stock Exchange. Not as big as the New York stock exchange, a fact that is obscured by the grander scale of it's name. Originally began as an outdoor market for companies not qualified for the NYSE. Today it is special because it is a dominant market is 3 different kinds of securities, Equities (stocks), Options, and Index-Shares, (Exchange-traded funds or ETFs).
