The organization which provides department store and other vendor services on US Army and Air Force Bases. They provide the BX and PX (department stores for the Air Force and Army, respectively), as well as Military Clothing stores, and usually provide vendor space for a barber, a dry cleaner, a Burger King, and various other amenities.
Not be confused with DECA, which provides commissary services for all branches of the US military.
Many employees of AAFES are military dependents and military retirees, who are willing to travel oversees. AAFES sets up field stores at deployed location.
