One Nation (thing)

Drum and Bass raves run in London since circa 1993. Currently usually at the Stratford Rex, but has moved around quite a bit. The name is something of an aspiration, for a united nation of ravers of all creeds, colours and beliefs.

Gear (thing)

Often used as a synonym for the drug of your choice. In my case this is marijuana, but to a coke-head gear would be cocaine, and to a heroin addict would mean heroin. Discussions with people you don't know very well can therefore become quite confusing, although less so in England where marijuana is purchased in imperial measurements, coke and heroin in metric.

Draw: Another slang term for marijuana, mixed with tobacco for the perfect spliff.

hardstep (thing)

Hardstep, one aspect of the phenomenon known as Drum n Bass, Drum and Bass, Jungle and various other names. Charecterised by deep heavy beats and snares marking the rhythm in a 2step pattern. Dark basslines are a must. One of the earliest big hardstep tracks was Shadow Boxing, with its rolling hoover-like bassline.

puff-head (person)

One who consumes vast quantities of marijuana, and is thus usually permanently stoned. Most likely to say things like 'uhh', 'wuhh' and 'umm'. Half-closed eyelids and serious red-eye are indicators of a puff-head, although these can also be due to other factors.

skunk (thing)

Whilst skunk is often used as a slang name for marijuana it is in fact the name of a particularly potent strain. Skunk won the high-times 1988 Cannabis Cup, and since then has been the variety of choice for the discerning puff-head. More common in Europe where a spliff is rolled with mixed tobacco/marijuana.
