In association with node your homework...

"With the increasing occurrence of diabetes among adolescents discuss how they cope whilst at school/college".

Diabetes is increasing among adolescents for a number of reasons, such as poor diet and lack of exercise. Therefore it must be considered how adolescents cope whilst they are at school/college. Diabetes U.K. (2006) says: "Going back to school/college after you've been diagnosed with diabetes is never going to be a breeze," and that's why we must consider a number of things, such as how adolescents: cope with their diagnosis, control their diabetes and manage to stick to a healthy diet.

When returning to school/college, after being diagnosed, a student will be asked lots of questions by their peers and teachers. In order to solve any questions that may be asked the student should be able to explain their condition and how they are going to cope whilst at school/college.
I've been here two years now, well two years next week but it's all the same really. Since joining I have learnt a lot from you all because without you lot I would be nothing, I'd still be the scared fourteen year old I was two years ago. When I joined, at the tender age of fourteen, I was pretty blank about noding and it took me awhile to write something that didn't get deleted and to look at was actually worth something. Being fourteen can be quite tough when I think about it, I was hard on myself back then because I thought that my writing was awful but I realise that it wasn't awful it just didn't mean very much. Back when I joined it was all about reaching the next level because that would actually be a great achievement; I was totally wrong about that though because an achievement was being accepted and people telling me that my writing was actually worth something. I started off my noding with many daylogs, which I have now deleted, complaining about my latest crush or the fact…

How do film makers tell stories?

The film, 'Alien', was released in 1979, by British director Ridley Scott. 'Alien' soon gained a reputation for itself because it released into the cinema a series of shocking scenes and frightening alien images. Film makers, like Scott, are able to tell stories in a number of ways; this is done through a number of narrative and representation theories that the film maker has picked up during his working years. Many of the theories used are famous because of the people who first thought of them. It is often said that you can tell who has been part of making the film, or who has influenced the making of a film; just by the way the film is structured.

We need to realise that narrative is not just the way a story is told but it is also how the material is organised in order for the film to come together. Narrative is said to be the way we are…

It has been half term this week and I just thought I'd talk to you about how sixth form is going. Sixth form is nothing how I imagined it would be, I thought it would make me feel more tied down but it is the complete opposite. Teachers are far slacker about work than they ever were previously, which I find really great. I have an idea that the reason for the slackness is because there is a hell of a lot more work to do this year than there ever was last year! It doesn't really matter though, for once in my life I'm doing something that I actually love to pieces. It's hard to describe what it really feels like but I hope the rest of my life will be like this, where I actually love everything I do. Perhaps I am lucky, I mean some people never like anything they do for a job or as part of their education. Yeah, I guess I am pretty lucky.

Just a little over a month ago I decided that I needed to do something about my weight. It has worried me a lot more since I became a diabetic just before…

Examine the evidence and reasons for changing conjugal roles.

It is believed that conjugal is thought to mean the relationship between a man and his wife. The roles that these two people play within their relationship are often very different to another couple's way of sharing the roles. During the years before the industrial revolution conjugal roles were shared equally between the two partners because they both had to work, usually on their own land and this was called symmetrical conjugal roles. However, when the industrial revolution came out roles became segregated and each partner did separate duties. There are many reasons why roles change within a relationship; many of the factors were due to the changing of the working structure.

Symmetrical conjugal roles were thought to benefit both partners within their relationship as neither partner had to do the bulk of the work. Before the industrial revolution many families ran farms and lived as part of an extended family,…

Examine different conceptions of the desirability of the Nuclear Family.

A nuclear family can be defined as parents and children living together in a home separate to the rest of their extended family. Functionalists believe that the nuclear family is the only acceptable family structure as it provides and supplies the needs of every member of the family. Radical Feminists have an entirely different view, believing that the nuclear family doesn't benefit anyone, except the men of society.

Functionalists have a very clear view on the nuclear family. They believe that society actually benefits from the nuclear family because of what they provide. Functionalists feel that that the nuclear family help to educate children whilst stabilising adult personalities, which in turn benefits society greatly. This in turn is helping to train children who will become the workers of the next generation. Murdock, who is a functionalist, feels that nuclear families are an excellent…
