domaindudu's New Writeupshttp://everything2.com/?node=New%20Writeups%20Atom%20Feed&foruser=domaindudu2002-03-05T17:18:02ZMonsters, Inc. (thing)http://everything2.com/user/domaindudu/writeups/Monsters%252C+Inc.domainduduhttp://everything2.com/user/domaindudu2002-03-05T17:18:02Z2002-03-05T17:18:02ZWhile Monsters Inc might appeal visually to most people with its dazzling special effects, I found that sadly, the film tries to push some very American values onto the minds of children and adults all over the world.

While watching the film I failed to understand who exactly the film makers were trying to entertain. Does an eight year old give a hoot about American corporate values? One would then think that like the Simpsons, the film actually attempted to reach the adult public. However my mind was numbed from the movie's mindless slapstick comedy and weak, predicatable plot.

A few minutes into the film and the hidden messages become clear: You must live to work, not work to live. Your job is your life, thus if you lose your job you lose your life, thus you must surrender your dignity to the Corporations and the fat cats who run them. America's capitalist dog-eat-dog, hire-and-fire competitive lifestyle is the way and everyone must worship the leader, the quarterback,…Some observations on getting a girlfriend (idea)http://everything2.com/user/domaindudu/writeups/Some+observations+on+getting+a+girlfrienddomainduduhttp://everything2.com/user/domaindudu2002-01-02T12:48:15Z2002-01-02T12:48:15ZI very much like Vork's ideas, I wish I could have read them a a few years ago, as they would've saved me from much time, frustration, and useless self-loathing.

I believe I have one tip of my to add to the collection which is vital and ties in nicely with his advice:

If you like a girl, talk to her about her life and the things that interest her first, not you.

It's likely that your potential girlfriend is interested in you and the things you do too, but talking excessively about what you do and the things you like isn't going to do you much good! Many guys like to think of the dating process as some kind of sales pitch in which you have to market yourself and impress your victim with your talents, intelligence, wit and good humour (and if you're a real bastard, money.) I bet you most of the time girls are happy simply to talk to someone who is willing to listen and care about their lives. Having spent only five years of my life in what is supposed to be my home country, I wonder whether my lifestyle has in any way compromised my sense of national identity.
I am sure I speak on the behalf of many when I say that it is both a blessing and a curse to bee able to live all over the world and experience every culture. I happen to be in an interesting situation at the moment, living in London whilst having spent the last 6 of my 25 years in Australia. The time I spent in Australia made me inevitably become a little bit Australian, some of my Aussie friends indeed argue that I am (and sound) as Australian as any other Australian they know. As a matter of fact, most of my best friends…Venom Tongue (thing)http://everything2.com/user/domaindudu/writeups/Venom+Tonguedomainduduhttp://everything2.com/user/domaindudu2001-01-22T10:25:09Z2001-01-22T10:25:09Z(This is a song that I wrote. If the US is so great, why don't other countries give themselves to us? (idea)http://everything2.com/user/domaindudu/writeups/If+the+US+is+so+great%252C+why+don%2527t+other+countries+give+themselves+to+us%253Fdomainduduhttp://everything2.com/user/domaindudu2001-01-06T07:08:02Z2001-01-06T07:08:02ZThe answer is simple. It's because the United States don't want the other countries to give themselves to them.

These things are usually complicated, with no easy answers to the problems. For instance, You can look at your immediate neighbours, say Mexico. Everyone knows that mexicans are and have been invading the US for quite some time, risking their lives crossing the Rio Grande in search of a better way. It is clear that the US is not happy with the idea of masses of illiterate, unqualified people crossing over the border and driving down the quality of life inside the US.

In my opinion, the US should strive to make Mexico richer and to improve the quality of life of their citizens, that way they will have less of a reason to cross the border. However the idea of handing out money to a neighbouring country doesn't get you many votes.
Things to consider when forming a rock band (idea)http://everything2.com/user/domaindudu/writeups/Things+to+consider+when+forming+a+rock+banddomainduduhttp://everything2.com/user/domaindudu2000-12-22T15:09:35Z2000-12-22T15:09:35ZThat's all good and well considering that what you're chasing by forming a rock'n'roll band is fame, success, and fortune.

Have you ever considered that there may be other driving forces behind a person's willingness to make music or form a band? Perhaps some people out there still do it for the love of music, and not simply as means of seeking recognition or making money.

Sure, there may be a much higher supply of bands than a demand, but how many of those people are actually in it for the music and the oportunity of using the band as a creative outlet in which they can express themselves?

If you're in it for the chicks, however, your post is pretty much spot on.
