I was always impartial to just memorizing the word:

HHeLiBeBCNOFNeNaMgAlSiPSClArKCaScTiV, which is pronounced:

Huh-He-Lie-Be-Buhc'inoff-knee-Nam-galsips-clark -kickass -cutiv.

In fact, I have decided to name my first child this, in order to make her scientific knowledge immediately aided by her name.

Or maybe I'll just go ahead and call her:
"The-square-of-the-hypotenuse-is-equal-to-the-sum-of-the-squares-of-the-other-two-sides".

The memorization of nmemonics, in both cases, is rendered completely redundant! What could be easier to remember than your own name?

Some people, I suppose, would say I am stupid, but effective.

My little sister's adventures with Old People (person)

Apparently, you weren't thinking what I was thinking.

My friend, who I have been in school with since I was 8 years old, which is a while, since I am no longer seventeen, has a sister. Who is seventeen. She has these eyes, and teeth, and this body. She's not hot, I guess, but she's just, well, special. Her and I, despite my somewhat questionable age advantage have history. Not explicit interaction, of course, just this electrical momentum of sorts, that seems, when I come near her, to afflict me, like the shadow of a frozen, breaking wave above me.

So, one day, it came to pass that, as three of us, her, her "ex" and my mentor of sorts, and myself, were sitting on her bed, all three of us holding hands, and speaking in close silent whispers of our well-kept dreams, it became too much for me. I left the room. She quickly followed.

My mom went to Oregon a while back, for some sort of health conference. She, among other things, spent time driving around, and seeing the West Coast. We're from Toronto, up in Canada. We all cried when Bush got elected president. My point, of course, is that some might consider us leg-warmer-wearing rupturing heart liberals. In fact, everyone in my family willingly admits to being a socialist.

So, to get back, while she was there, she attended a Billy Bragg concert. She brought me back a t-shirt, whose tag says Never Use Bleach!, and whose sole decoration is a picture of Woody Guthrie, holding his guitar, which proudly declares "this machine kills fascists" Funny, I think that Woody himself was being a little bleeding-heart with this sentiment. One might consider him an honourary Canadian.

I think that "this machine kills fascists" is the name of the guitar. If not, it should be. So it is in fact, a "thing."

Of course, the misunderstanding is... unsurprising if the situation somewhat resembles the following:

"I'm not really that upset. It's okay that you're leaving. I can handle it. I'm even happy with it, in a way. I think, ultimately, this will be better, for both of us.
