Bulbs and blossoms,
suddenly popping like bulging zippers
or slowly spreading into sweet lips

I itch for hot dirt
pulsing with seeds,

When every busy anthill
mimicks the points of a girl's shirt,

Made mine out of duct tape.
"Duct tape?", you say.
Yep. Duct tape.
Of course, it was lined with saran wrap, so as not to completely and painfully depilate me when I took it off. It was off-the-shoulder and short, with an a-line skirt and a diamond shape cut out of the belly to showcase my navel piercing. My sister helped wrap me in the plastic and then smooth the strips of tape directly to my body. I carried some pinking shears and an extra roll around in my purse all night, so that i could easily disrobe and then re-tape myself, if needed. I found platform high-heels in the exact shade of duct tape, and I sprayed my hair silver, with make-up to match, of course.
Where'd I get the idea?

Last Sunday I dragged him to Target so that I could buy the inexpensive, utilitarian things on my Christmas list, and told him to play with toys so he wouldn't see the things that were to be his gifts. Somehow, between picking up a 3-pack of underwear for my sister, and an amaryllis bulb-kit for my mother, I found myself in the children's clothing section, standing before racks of Power Puff Girls apparel with devious ideas a-brewin'.

Let it be known that I am far from petite or waif-like. I'm 5'9 3/4", and bear the bulges of womanhood, but I couldn't resist trying on a girl's X-Large shirt. It fit me like a baby-t so I threw it in the cart. When I was finished shopping I found a bored and cranky Madman, who ruined the surprise by looking in the cart. It's snowing. This morning I found out that I need to replace an axle in my car (which has a tendency to hydroplane) which will cost about $200. Shortly thereafter, I found out that I had basically lost my job, as I have been demoted to an on-call stripper (imagine being demoted at a strip club!) which means that they want me to sit by the phone, and if any of the regular girls calls out, they might call me to work. And now I'm wondering what kind of person I have become, that being fired from a strip club can make me cry and spur my first depressed day in months.

I actually really liked my job. I worked at a club called Kaos (the sign reads Kaos, nightclub and deli) which was a fairly "classy" club, as far as these places go, no one tried to touch me or expected a hand-job, which was a relieving change from previous jobs. I got much needed exercise, and I love to dance, plus the other 'girls' there were very nice and friendly with a minimum of…

To my knowledge, there is no phrase or word to succintly express the very common, very human, emotion of base desire which will not be acted upon, due to intellectual restrictions. You want to do something, but at the same time do not want to, and will not, do it, because you 'know better'. This conflict of desires happens so frequently in the human experience, it seems like our language is lacking for not offering a concise desription.

Examples of where such a phrase would be apprpriate:
"I don't want to go to work because it is inherently distasteful, but the prospect of theloss of pay/wrath of my boss is more distasteful and makes me want to go."
"I want to eat a gallon of ice cream because I like ice cream a lot, but I am already full and it would make me feel bad physically and emotionally, so I don't really want it."
"I want to have sex with that 15 year old, but it would really piss off my spouse/lover plus I've been socialized to…
