Playa Del Fuego (place)

A Mid-Atlantic regional burn (a small event related to Burning Man). Previously held at Assateague Island, MD (and known simply as the Beach Burn), it is currently being held at the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club in Delaware.

A great place to see incredible art (and watch some of it burn), meet incredible people (and hopefully not watch some of them burn), expand and explore your mind (possibly involving watching something burn, depending on the nature of the expansion), and just generally enjoy life. I haven't been part of the crowd for very long, but I already feel a great sense of love and acceptance in the community that I've never felt anywhere else. Boh Ice (thing)

A somewhat difficult to find variety of Natty Boh. It costs exactly the same ($8/case), but has 5.8% alcohol. That extra alcohol comes at a cost, however, as you will soon realise after your first sip. It tastes like the ass of an ass. The results of a small private taste test we concluded were that it actually tastes worse than PBR. I think it tastes a bit like Budweiser.

National Bohemian (thing)

One of the cheapest beers money can buy. The going rate is about $8 a case (cans, of course). While it's certainly by no means good beer, it's got a definite charm to it, once you get used to it, and it sure beats Budweiser. It's got the consistency of thick ginger ale, with a strong yeasty flavor to it.

It's also available in a bottle, although I've only seen it sold as such in six packs, and for $3-4, so save it for a special occasion.

This should be the first thing you look for if you're visiting Baltimore. Anyone who's never experienced drinking a case of natty boh and contemplating smoking crack has not truly experienced charm city.

I'm not sure what the edacational film is that /dev/joe is referring to, but the original song was performed by Tom Glazer and Dottie Evans. It appeared on a record called "Space Songs," which was part of a collection entitled "Ballads For The Age Of Science," which contained a bunch of other children's songs about science.

Handrolled cigarettes (thing)

When I used to smoke, I smoked handrolled fairly often (but not exclusively, since it's a pain sometimes, especially when driving or anything else that requires your hands). When I first started smoking them, I didn't use filters, but, after I started coughing up nasty shit in the mornings (mine was red and brown, though, not green), I went out and bought a bag of cotton filters.

The filters are pretty cheap, especially when you consider that you're wasting less tobacco (since you're not throwing a butt full of it into the ashtray). I never tried boiling them, but I suspect this would not work, at least with the ones I had, as they were kept together with a thin paper wrapping.

The only disadvantage of the filters is that you can end up wasting a lot of tobacco if you usually roll thin cigarettes (since you have to roll it the same width as the filter), and it can be a bitch to roll them until you get used to it.
