Actress

AKA. Melinda Clarke. Born in Dana Point, California, she was raised by her ballerina mother Patricia, and her father John, who was an actor.

At the age of 18 she moved to L.A. to pursue her dream of acting. She was cast in a few small parts and did a bit of modelling before landing a small reccurring role as a jazz singer on Days of Our Lives (she actually sings).

Maybe you've never heard of her? Understandable, since her big break was in the movie "Return of the Living Dead 3" as the zombie 'Julie Walker'. This brought her great notoriety within the B-movie community, as the film gained a cult following and she even became a Fangoria cover girl.

After ROTLD:3, she made a series of flops including 'Return to Two Moon Junction' and 'Mulholland Falls' (I assume to try and assert herself as a serious actress) and guest starred on Xena as the amazon princess 'Velasca' before falling back into low grade horror with 'La…

A three piece "Vamp Rock" act based out of Vancouver, B.C. now consisting of three brothers (since the departure of Lab Drac).
Singer Nim Vind borrowed the name from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel "Lord of the Rings" after reading the novel. This new style of music- Vamp Rock - can be described as a unique hybrid that blends the crooning style of the 50's with a nocturnal sonic energy...

Growing up in England I was always scared to go back to the Philippines (where I was born)-- thanks to my mother emotionally scarring me by telling me stories about the following freak ass creatures...

Aswang: name translates to "To be detached from one part of the body". This creature flies around at night sucking blood and attacking animals and people. It is said that during the daytime, the aswang takes on the appearance of a dog, whose front legs are longer than the back legs.

Manananggal: The female aswang. Some say her head and stomach fly out at night, others say all of her upper body flies out while her lower body remains. She flies with her arms which turn into bat-like wings, perching on a roof to suck out the internal organs and blood of those in the house. Or she hangs beneath the open floor and sucks the rectum or sputum of the sick with her tube-like tongue which she can extend and control at will. She especially craves the unborn…

Siren (thing)

These were malicious sea nymphs in the legends of ancient Greece and Rome.

Variations on the name are: Sireen, Sirene, or Syrene.
They were the offspring of Phorcys.
They appeared as half bird, half woman and they congregated on the rocks of Sicily where they sung melodiously to attract and beguile and sometimes devour(!) passing sailors.

Their individual names were: Aglaopheme, Leucosia, Ligia, Parthenope, Pisinoe and Thelxiepia.

Legend has it that Odysseus was able to pass by their island successfully by filling the ears of his men with wax and tying himself to the mast of his ship.

Jason and the Argonauts were said to have caused the demise of the sirens when they heard Orpheus singing more sweetly than they did.

In the northwestern Spanish coastal area there is a type of mermaid called "La Sirena", which seems to be a derivative of the Siren.
However this creature is not malevolent.

Oni (thing)

The Shinto and Buddist Oni were divided into two types:

1.From Hell, called :"Gaki".
2.From Earth (Oni)

GAKI are able to take a somewhat humanoid shape, but usually are not able to hide their huge swollen bellies. They are red or green and have the head of either a horse or an ox with three eyes and grotesque horns and talons.

They are constantly tortured with raging hunger and thirst.

They pounce upon the wicked who are close to die and send them to the torment of Hell.

ONI are earth demons who can shapeshift into a human form of a relative or aquaintance, of the person that they want to torment.

Some of these are rumoured to be the distorted souls of women who have died of excessive grief.
These demons are responsible for bringing misfortune,and disease - especially the plague.

They may be driven out during the "Shinto Oni-yarahi" ceremony.
