Joe Pantoliano originally caught my eye when he portrayed Cypher in "The Matrix". While viewing the movie, I recognized his voice from another movie . . . 'Risky Business'. The 'whine' in Mr. Pantoliano's voice has earned him somewhat of a cult following over the years; however his superb acting is what has garnered him his most acclaim. Acting in roles ranging from a futuristic freedom fighter turned traitor to a pimp to a made man under Tony Soprano to even portraying an evil wrestling promoter, Joe is certainly not a type-cast actor. His versatility in accents, appearances, and overall persona have made him one of the best (if not the best) character actor in Hollywood. A role that he has become familiar with over the years has been that of the all around local sleaze ball, low level criminal, or lackey to a higher up goon. Who doesn't love R2-D2? I mean honestly, whether you are a fan of Star Wars, the prequels, or the spin-offs, you have to love the spunky little droid on two wheels. When my friends and I first became enamored with the Star Wars universe way back in the day, we always wondered "Were there people in the droids?" Well now I know the answer is yes, and that man is Kenny Baker.

Kenny Baker was born in Birmingham, England on August 24, 1934, obviously making him a British citizen. Being born a dwarf, Kenny quickly learned how to adapt in order to live a standard life. At the age of 6, he enrolled at the Shaftesbury Society, located in London. Passing on public education due to his short stature, the Shaftesbury Society specialized in educating children with 'disabilities'.

Mr. Baker's professional career began when he was 16 years old. Kenny decided that he was going to make the best out of his condition and joined the Burton Lester's Midgets production…

To be honest, I didn't know about Wil Wheaton until I saw the "The Naked Now" episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I missed "Encounter at Farpoint" and saw how this young kid was on a starship in the 24th century and tinkering with some voice box thing. Come on, what kid watching that wouldn't be insanely jealous? Right, that's what I thought too. So Wesley Crusher almost kills everyone on the ship because he's jacked up on the Tsiolkovsky virus, and I think to myself "What a little poon! He gets to do that everyday and almost ruins it all!".

Needless to say, my feelings of the young Crusher improved as he actually proved his worth throughout the series. By this time, my parents had expanded the cable television to include HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime. Because of this, a whole new world of movies was opened to me. Since my mother's death 6 years ago, I have found myself in a state of emotional hardness. Things that should have a profound emotional effect on me alas do not. When I should cry, I remain stoic.

I was browsing through my 15,000+ mp3 archive today and stumbled across a song I hadn't heard in about three years. Joshua Kadison is who the song is by. I heard the opening piano lines and it immediately struck a nerve with me. Tears welled in my eyes before the the first line was sung. By the time the line "Oh jesse, paint your pictures, 'bout how it's gonna be. By now I should know better, your dreams are never free.", tears were flowing freely down my face.

I don't about songs like these. They are excellent songs in that they bring back memories of a loved one or a relationship gone by, but they depress the hell out of me.
