To my dear friends and pals here at E2...

I'd like to apologize for disappearing off the planet and worrying so many (but it's great to feel so cared about -- 1710 msg's ???)

When I signed off 5.5 months ago I thought it was for a few days... had I known I wouldn't be able to get back here for that long, believe me I would have done something to let ya'all know that I'm alive and well. But the few days turned into weeks, the weeks into months as my personal life spun out of control in chaos and drama. (just add wellbutrin, lexipro and anti-anxiety meds - stir well and things do start to look up...)

I still don't have internet access yet, it may be a few more weeks, or a few months till I have it again.

I plan to write a personal message to as many of my personal friends here as I can while I do have access today - if you don't get one ... pleeeeeeeeeeeease do not take it personal - I am unsure how long I will have…

Brief synopsis of "The Broken Pot":

The fascinating story behind this short Indian Tale, is that according to the translator Joseph Jacobs, the age old saying "Don't count your chickens before they are hatched" can be traced back to this tale and the Indian culture. I don't imagine there are many educated people who've never heard that saying, so it's quite interesting that it derived in India.

I'd also suggest that this tale would also teach the lesson: "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket" - since this miser had put all the rice he'd spent so much time begging for in one pot, and when the broke the pot - his many hopes and dreams were dashed. At any rate, it's an intersting tale and one a young child would probably be able to understand.

This tale also shares a lesson that's near and dear to my heart: "It takes money to make money" - a saying that is so true. While he may have been counting chickens, and putting his…

FIRST ANNUAL EVERYTHING2 NET-A-THON

E2 is outstanding, and the amount of bandwidth this place requires per day must be incredible. The cost of maintaining this place can't be pretty. So I'm suggesting a E2 NET-A-THON. Let's work together to help offset the operating costs here at the place we all enjoy so much.

I propose anyone reading this /msg me with the reasons why they use (and/or love) E2, and a challenge to their fellow noders to meet and I'll post it here. My goal if I can be so bold, is to (at minimum) double the previous month's donations. And my pipe-dream is that we break their current record for donations in a month. Can we do it? (We could do that if everyone reading this node donated the cost of their next Latte)

For me personally, I love E2 because I'm a compulsive addictive type person and this place is my drug of choice. I was once addicted (for real) to the public library, had
…

Well it's been suggested that this idea has no place on E2 and "will likely be downvoted into oblivion in a matter of minutes" - that's sad. Maybe it's not a good idea, but I feel it is and would like to share it and take the risk because I believe people can make a difference, maybe I can't but maybe someone reading this can. Sorry in advance if it really is a dumb idea and doesn't belong here - I feel the need to post it.

Undoubtedly I"m not the first person to think of this, but since I have yet to read about it or hear about it - I'd like to put it out there for others. Perhaps it will inspire someone to put this into action?

The idea is playing cards with the pictures of missing children, like the children currently pictured on milk cartons in the USA. Like the Iraqi most wanted playing cards. Many of us don't buy our milk in cartons, so this useful resource does not hit many of…

Getting out of a domestic violence relationship is one of the hardest things one might ever face. Besides being beaten down emotionally, and having little to no self esteem left; there's often serious financial issues with the choice to leave. There's also the belief that the abuser can change; but the chances of the person changing while in a relationship with the abused, are less likely than them getting hit by lightning five times.

Having lived through this process myself, spending 2 years in the domestic violence self help group, and helping many women to finally leave for good, I felt this node could help someone else. I definitely understand that not all abusers are male, but since the majority are, it's just easier for me to write this from the perspective of a male abuser / female victim. It can be applied to any other gender combination as well.

It's essential to note, in the case of the dangerous abuser, that the greatest risk is when the abuser thinks it's really…
