We are indeed a community. There are rumors, gossip, cliques, factions, outcasts, loners.

Why do we daylog? Daylogs get a bad reputation because they are so easy... Almost nothing is really wrong in a day log, so a lot of crap gets put up. There are good daylogs, though. If you like someone's writing, then the extra information about their life is beautiful.

Why are they there, the daylogs? Do you read them? Do you read the old ones? Does anyone have one of your daylogs bookmarked? Why not? Daylogs shouldn't be written for yourself... Daylog for the ages.

Today:

I came back from New York this morning, flying down I-95. I had to go to work.

Today was the Monday of Labor Day. I did nothing again today. I did go to the store, for Coca-Cola and Q-tips, but that's about it.
I spent all day in #everything again, talking with the regulars... We would really like to see you there, too, so drop in anytime.

I talked to FirstGeek via messages some today. He sounds like a really cool guy, and I am glad he is a part of the collective.

MindRover: The Europa Project (thing)

A wonderful PC game written and published by CogniToy, LLC. There are so many compliants about games being unoriginal... This one truly is different from anything you have played before.

The rather pointless back story is that you are a scientist sent to Europa for some reason. It is really boring there, so everyone builds robots to pass the time.

System Specifications:

P200 Mhz Processor (300 Mhz recommended)
Windows 95/98/NT (It runs in Windows 2000, as well, but it was released before WIndows 2000, so it isn't mentioned in the manual)
32 MB RAM (64 MB recommended)
16 bit color mode
Sound card
DirectX7 or higher
70 MB hard drive storage
4x CD-ROM drive

It only runs in OpenGL, too.

Like it or not, we are a community. This is most evident in our gatherings:

It is also obvious in the mentor program, and the xp system.

The Incestuous Everything phenomenon exists for a reason: We like ourselves. There are funny nodes, sad nodes, and just plain stupid nodes. But they all tell us something about the people that use the site.

Daylogs shouldn't be spurned just because they exist... I want some people to daylog every day; I like to know about their lives. I think most of us will kill for a daylog by Sensei. A lot of the daylogs are just crap, but so is a lot of the other stuff that gets…

I slacked long and hard today. I haven't left the house at all, haven't done the laundry, paid the bills, checked the mail, nothing productive at all. I have been putting in about 60 hours a week at work, so I feel really weird about completely ignoring it all day today.

Today was the Sunday before Labor day, and I didn't wake up until after 7am, which is very rare for me. I had to take several sleeping pills last night, and still only managed about six hours of fairly restless sleep.

Meals today included instant oatmeal, a loaf of frozen garlic bread, and cheddar and Ritz Crackers.
I did shower, but I have done nothing else but play on a MUD Juliet convinced me to go to, and hang out on #everything. This is also an open invitation for all of you to come visit us in #everything. Think of it as a realtime chatterbox.
