The least popular movies of the last fifteen years (idea)

uucp's theory of opening weekend gross compared to total gross is good, but the limit of $12 million opening gross leaves out many really bad movies which I think should rightfully deserve a place in this list.

Let's take, for example, a movie that is notoriously bad: Glitter (2001), starring Mariah Carey. Now, we can all agree that it's a really, really bad movie, right?

According to Box Office Mojo, it got $2,4 million in the opening weekend, and the total gross of $4,3 million. So, the opening gross/total gross ratio would be 55.81, which would make it go right in the top of uucp's list if it wasn't for the $12 million limit.

IMO the most reliable source of a movie's popularity is The Internet Movie Database (IMDb). The ratings are given by people all over the world, of different age and cultural backgrounds. The users must be registered in order to give a rating to a movie, and this…

I don't usually write day logs, this is my first one (and probably last). I'm not interested in politics and I don't like sticking my nose in other people's business but the war in Iraq is something I cannot just bypass. Bush doesn't seem to care shit about rest of the world, he throws international laws and treaties to trash and makes UN look like a powerless, outdated alliance.

This is just my opinion, and I don't know if it can even be done, but I think that USA should be declared responsible for violating the international laws of UN and Bush should be put to justify his actions in the international court of justice. If he doesn't have enough evidence to show that it was necessary to go to war, which he hasn't had so far, he should be declared as a war criminal. Of course, this applies to some of the other countries in the so called coalition as well, but most…

Robin of Sherwood is no doubt the best TV series ever made of the legend of Robin Hood. It was made in England 1983-85 and originally aired in UK 1984-86. The series was created by Richard Carpenter and produced by Paul Knight.

The main character, played by Michael Praed, is Robin of Locksley (also spelled as Loxley), son of Ailric of Locksley, a guardian of the Silver Arrow who has led a rebellion against and was murdered by his Anglo-Norman masters. Before his death, Ailric predicts that "A hooded man" will come to fight the tyranny. The tale begins when Robin catches his young step-brother Much (Peter Llewellyn Williams) killing a deer in the lands of Sheriff of Nottingham (Nickolas Grace). Before they can get away, they are being arrested by Sir Guy of Gisburne (Robert Addie) and are imprisoned to the Castle of Nottingham. A phrase which is used when you're talking about someone behind that person's back, and that person appears on the scene.

Peter and Randy are having a nice discussion about Ron:

Peter: "You know, I have never seen anyone with such a big, hairy stomach as Ron!"

Ron appears to the scene

Randy: "Speaking of the devil."

If Ron hears this, it might leave him confused and maybe a bit hurt, wondering what Peter and Randy were saying about him. Poor Ron. Of course it all depends on how Randy said it; if he had said it to Ron with a smile that says "I'm just kidding!", Ron would have realized that Randy wasn't serious. BUT if Randy had said it to Peter with with an icy tone in his voice, his back deliberately turned to Ron, then Ron would have, in case he heard it, been aware that Peter and Randy were talking something bad about him. Bastards.

Although I had doubts if everyone who had signed up would actually attend the meet, almost everyone did and made the day a legend to be told to grandchildren for many generations to come.

So, what went on at the gathering?

We spent almost the whole day in Suomenlinna. After the almost endless hiking around the island, we arrived to Kustaan Miekka where we had a nice picnic including cold food and warm beer. Simppa seemed to know everything about the place and it's history, so we all learned something new. (Can't remember anything, though). The weather was really on our side and most of the people went home looking like a boiled crab. (Sun lotions? Never heard.)

After returning to the main land and experiencing the Finnish-American E2 jam session, some of the gang had to leave while the rest of us went to have some dinner to a restaurant called Leningrad Cowboys, which I can recommend to every one who likes good food. After that, I…

The Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index

The corruption perceptions index (CPI) ranks countries every year in terms of the level of corruption perceived to exist among public officials and politicians. The material used in the index is gathered from 14 different polls and surveys from seven independent institutions carried out on business people, academics and risk analysts, including surveys on both local and expatriate residents. The countries included on the list must have records of at least three TI accepted surveys that year. The first CPI was published in "Der Spiegel" in 1995, and since then it has been published yearly. The least corrupted countries have been pretty much the same over the years; there are 8 countries which have been in the top ten since the beginning of CPI. These countries are: Finland, New Zealand, Denmark, Singapore, Canada, Sweden, Netherlands and Norway.
