Countdown to Zero is the 2010 documentary directed by Lucy Walker. The film serves as a case for nuclear disarmament, pointing out the rising threat of a nuclear weapon being used. The film features interviews with some of the biggest hitters of the nuclear industry and includes many well-known politicians as well as experts in the field. Some of the big-names include Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Tony Blair, and Robert McNamara, to name a few.

The organization of the film is built around John F. Kennedy’s famous address to the United Nations. The titles for each section are superimposed from text from Kennedy’s actual speech; it’s an innovative way to introduce the viewer into each new section.

The film makes good use of archival footage, especially at the beginning of the film. The first few minutes employ an eerie voiceover from…

There are 57 users online at the time of this writing. 57. That's the most I've ever seen online in all my time I've been here (which is relatively short, mind you). This tells me two things:

1. We are not dead yet, and
2. People still care about E2.

I've been concerned about E2 for quite a while now. This site means a lot to me. I'm afraid of it dying--either by slowly fading out or one giant server crash. When I logged on this morning to find E2 down, I saw a message that told me not to worry--that my writeups are safe. But I wasn't worried about my writeups, I was worried about losing touch with the members of this site.

In recent weeks we've been going through a lot of turbulence. I thought E2's member-base would weaken because of it, but it hasn't, in fact, it's only grown stronger. This gives me hope concerning the future of this site.

That being said, I agree whole-heatedly with what Jet-Poop said here. I know…

The Danish Poet (or Den danske dikteren in Norway) is an animated short film released in 2006. It was written, animated, and directed by the Canadian filmmaker Torill Kove. The film was highly revered, winning both the Academy Award and Genie Award for best animated short film. The film follows a Danish poet named Kasper who travels to Norway to meet his favorite author and along the way falls in love with the daughter of a local farmer.

The story is the retelling of the classic romantic tragedy: a heartfelt man in love with a woman married to another man. The story, which has been told countless times over, still retains its potency. The film switches between lighthearted and dramatic scenes before ultimately concluding with an expectedly happy ending. It unmercifully tugs at your heartstrings and then eases the tension through cheerful little bits of clever comedy. The story plays out much like a fairy tale and demonstrates a keen, childlike sense of…
