Hebrew (עברית)

Hebrew, (or Ivrit), is an interesting language. Allow me to share with you a few reasons why:

• Much of the Bible was written in Hebrew.
• Hebrew became a dead language but rose again thanks to Eliezer Ben-Yehuda to be the national language of Israel.
• Hebrew is written in its own alphabet.
• The first two letters of the Hebrew alphabet are aleph and bet.
• Hebrew is written from right to left.
• Hebrew is written mostly without vowels.
• Hebrew numbers are sometimes written in hebrew letters.
• Hebrew has two versions of its alphabet. One for printing and one for handwriting. They are not similar.
• Some hebrew letters have special forms if the are at the end of a word.
• Hebrew writing shares a common ancester with Arabic which is also written right-to-left and without vowels.
• In Hebrew grammar men and women must use different forms of verbs.
