Land of the Long Weekend is a favourite term amongst Australians for their native country.

A long weekend is defined as a Saturday-through-Monday or Friday-through-Sunday vacation. Australia has a whole lot of them every year! Many people say that Australians have turned the long weekend into an artform.

Australia, having a traditional friendly rivalry with New Zealand, fits well with (and pokes a little fun at) that country's moniker, "Land of the Long White Cloud"
