To call Boston "Beantown" is the mark of a tourist. To locals, she is known affectionately as "The Hub".

I have not yet been able to discern whether "The Hub" was in fact dreamed up as part of some subversive propoganda campaign to detach our fine city's image from that famous flatulence-inducing legume dish, but it seems to be a compelling explanation.
