a method of "fortune telling" or scrying that can be done one of two ways.

The first is an older tradition that may have some merit to it. a question is asked and a walnut still in shell is opened. If the meat comes out intact, whole, the answer is 'yes' and the wish shall come true. if it breaks, it will not come to pass.

the other, more modern variation is fun, good for parties but has no real truth to it. Take walnuts, remove meat. You can either write 'yes' and 'no', write varied answers a la magic 8-ball, or write "fortunes" fortune cookie style. Place a slip of paper between two halves of the shells of the walnuts and glue together. Have your friends select a nut from the bowl and open it to reveal their "future"
