These are the 18-21 year olds who still place a great deal of emphasis on how they look but they're just moved out of home to go to university, so they can wear all the things their parent's wouldn't let them.

Generally student bodies fall into two main groups:

• The beautiful people who look like they'd have better grades if they spent less time in the gym/shopping/tanning.
• The geeks who look like they'd have a better social life if they spent less time studying/role playing/playing computer games and more time at the gym/shopping/tanning.

Obviously this is a continuum, but the outliers are always more noticeable. As students mature they tend to move towards the mean.
