| Ailment that I am currently suffering from in which it is painful to move one's head. It is most frequently caused by "sleeping funny," and (hopefully) lasts no more than a few days. Some suggest that painkillers such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen can help to alleviate the pain, but for me they have not helped. I suggest trying to distract oneself and not thinking too much about the pain. This site would generally be a good way to do that, unless of course you are reading this node which will just make you think about it even more. So stop reading and go think about something else!
Update: Some people have suggested to me that showering before you sleep can also cause the stiff neck, since it loosens your muscles and then they go unused for an extended amount of time. Also, sleeping with a wet head can make your neck cold which could conceivably make it stiff. Conversely, some people have reported that applying ice to their already stiff necks helps to cure the problem. Stress is also a common cause, so get some rest and relax! Finally, remember that if symptoms persist for more than a few days, a visit to your chiropractor may be in order. |
