A novel concept I ran across a few years back. A method of fund raising, similar to walk-a-thons or penny harvests. Simply, you convince people to pay you X quantity of money for every hour you go without eating. Then, you fast for as long as you can.

Part of the appeal of this plan, to my mind, is that most efforts to raise cash require you to do something, where as starving for money merely requires you to abstain from doing something.

For anyone who is curious, my personal record is 3 days and 4 hours, for $1520 American. The spring dance was much improved from previous years.
