A TV show that influcenced most everyone who watched it. Made math fun. Included guest appearances from The Fat Boys and Weird Al, a weekly crime series call Mathnet, and everyone's favorite Pac-Man clone, Mathman.

Several sources I've encountered on the World Wide Web say that the phrase "back to square one" meaning "back to the beginning" originates in early BBC radio commentaries for soccer/football -- to make things clearer for the listener, the field was divided into numbered squares, and the goalkeeper stood in square #1. (I'm not sure how much I trust these sources.)

Tem42 says the phrase "more likely started in the early 1900s, from the game of hopscotch, where if you make a mistake, you go back to the first square and start again." This makes a lot more sense to me, but I cannot find any support for it in my research; the trivia game at www.boardgame.co.uk/porky_pies-full.pdf is the only one that even mentions this possibility, but states that the soccer one is the correct origin.

A version of Rubik's Cube in which there are 3 horizontal slices and 4 vertical slices, with the 4 vertical slices at 30 and 60 degree angles something like this:
+---------------+
  \ /
\ \ / /
\ \ / /
   \ \ / /
      X
   / / \ \
/ / \ \
/ / \ \
  / \
+---------------+

Actually now that I take a closer look at it, the middle face has only one slice.

The second largest mall in Canada, as well as the largest mall in Ontario.

Square One was built in 1973, one year before Mississauga became the city it is today. As was the case with many of the buildings in Mississauga at that time, the mall was almost completely surrounded by farm land. Today, Square One is surrounded by Mississauga's City Hall, as well as a large library and a bustling business district.

Square One currently boasts more than 360 stores, including four major department stores (Zellers, Sears, The Bay and Wal-Mart) and 40 restaurants and food vendors. The mall is also home to a Cineplex Odeon, a church, a blood donor clinic and a youth center.

A popular theory about the origin of the mall's name states that the mall was built on the first grid square planned by urban planners, hence 'Square One'.

Square One is also a central part of the Mississauga transit systems. Most bus routes start and finish at Square One's bus terminal.
