If a distributed memory computer has a single system image, all abstractions and interfaces exported by the operating system appear to the programmer to be the same as they are on a single computer. (Example: the Intel Paragon)

Some OS interfaces make it tough to get it right, others make it easy.

When it works, it kicks ass and will give you a technical woody.
