| Sometimes, when I come up with a particularly brilliant way of doing something, or when I'm doing sysadmin stuff that is very powerful (say, configuring a new server, deleting lots of users, tuning a network) and things are going well, I visualize myself as a sort-of god, like Zeus, say, shooting lightning bolts from my fingers.
I also think about this when I am accumulating power by my powers of personal influence--I think that I will transcend into godhood and again, have the ability to shoot lightning bolts from my fingers.
Why I don't visualize something more useful, like curing cancer or solving world hunger or building low-income housing is beyond me, except that I think that being able to shoot lightning bolts from my fingers would be pretty cool, and an undeniable symbol of my awesome power. |
