NetGear is a brand of networking hardware (NICs, Hubs, Switches) manufactured by Bay Networks, now owned by Nortel.

The early NetGear NICs (When NetGear was it's own company) were highly prized for their extremely good performance and overall "tough-ness". Sadly, when NetGear was bought by Bay Networks, they became just another manufacturer, using prefabed chipsets.

Netgear software is easy to configure except for one thing - it is always preset to hang up a dial-up connection after a set period of time. If you don't like this, check any Netgear software to make sure it is not preset to hang up your dial up connection.
