Selling an options contract without actually owning the shares of stock prior. When you sell the options contract you have to buy the shares and hold them until the contract expires. The downside here is that if you are selling the call option now, you probably did not want the shares to begin with-- and now you must hold them until the expire date of the option.
You are cold and naked until that expire date.
