Magic Sand(tm) is a rather clever invention consisting of coloured sand that has been treated with a silicon-based water-repellant compound. Out of the water it appears to be dry, and rather innocuous, yet placed in water it suddenly becomes rather sticky sludge type stuff. However, this is an illusion created by the water tension around the waterproofed sand. When scooped back out the sand is as dry as can be.
