In occult traditions, "left hand path" tends to refer to those traditions that believe in focusing on "evil" and "black magic". It is probable that this is a continuation of the thought that the left side equals the bad side inherited from Latin in the word sinister. The left hand path is often associated with darkness, male energy, and necromancy/death.
The Magic Code refers to the highest level on this side, W-----, as"Choronzon, Mara, and Satan are just euphemisms for my name."
Unfortunately, there is a tendency among some who follow this sort of "dark" magick to label their opposites as misguided in a manner so fanatic that they seem a reflection of the other side. Many others who see magick as a rainbow to consider this dualistic movement foolish at best.
